Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has suffered an ankle injury, raising concerns about his availability for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month. The Lazio star picked up the injury during his side’s goalless draw against Venezia on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was forced off in the 41st minute after a collision with Alessio Zerbin in the 36th minute. Lazio manager Marco Baroni confirmed the setback after the match.

Reports from Italy suggest Dele-Bashiru could be sidelined until after the March international break, dealing a blow to Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle as he prepares for qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Before his injury, the midfielder had a solid performance, completing 24 of his 26 passes, recording 30 touches, and delivering one key pass.
His absence would add to Chelle’s selection concerns, with Nigeria struggling in Group C. The Super Eagles remain winless, sitting fifth with just three points from four matches.
Dele-Bashiru has been a key player for Lazio this season, making 22 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals, and providing two assists. In Serie A, he has featured 16 times, starting six games, scoring three goals, and maintaining a 91% passing accuracy.
The midfielder is set to undergo further tests to determine the severity of his injury.
