D’Tigers moved one step closer to securing a spot in the 2025 AfroBasket finals with a commanding 87-67 comeback victory over Uganda in their second Group B qualifier in Tripoli on Saturday.

Uganda started strong, taking the first two quarters 16-14 and 18-14 to lead 34-28 at the break. However, D’Tigers responded emphatically in the second half, dominating the third and fourth quarters 27-25 and 32-8, respectively.
Caleb Agada continued his impressive form from the Libya clash, leading the game with 20 points, seven assists, and three steals. Ike Nwamu added 18 points, while Talib Zanna notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The win builds on Nigeria’s crucial victory over Libya, where Agada also shined with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
D’Tigers’ resurgence in this qualifying window marks a sharp turnaround from their struggles in February, when three consecutive losses put their AfroBasket hopes in jeopardy.
Now, they face a decisive showdown against group leaders Cape Verde on Sunday (today). A victory would seal Nigeria’s place at the continental championship in Angola this August, capping off an incredible comeback in their qualification campaign.
