The Ebira Peoples Association (EPA) has expressed unwavering support for Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, while urging the Nigerian Senate to uphold fairness and prevent any form of intimidation within its chambers.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!In a statement released on Friday, EPA President General, Dr. Oyibo Godwin, condemned recent developments in the Senate, including Senator Natasha’s removal as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content and her sudden displacement from her designated seat.
Describing these actions as politically motivated and unjust, he noted the growing outrage across both social and conventional media.
“We have been closely following events in the Senate—from the controversial ‘nightclub’ remark to Senator Natasha’s committee removal and seat reassignment. These actions appear to be deliberate and unjustified,” the statement read.
While the EPA initially refrained from public commentary, trusting the Senate to handle internal matters with fairness, the association now voices concern over what it perceives as targeted actions against Senator Natasha. It also condemned the involvement of certain tribal organizations in the dispute, warning that their interference has necessitated a response from the people of Kogi Central.
“We are monitoring every action, statement, and development before the Senate Ethics and Privileges Committee. Nothing is going unnoticed, and we will take appropriate action when necessary,” the statement emphasized.
Reaffirming their confidence in Senator Natasha’s representation, the EPA insisted that she has been diligent in her legislative duties and must not be subjected to persecution under any guise.
