French President Emmanuel Macron held discussions on Saturday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, former U.S. President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, European Council President António Costa, and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, according to the French Presidency.

Tensions between Trump and Zelensky remained high following a contentious White House meeting on Friday. The two leaders clashed over differing approaches to ending Russia’s ongoing three-year invasion of Ukraine. While Zelensky pushed for firm security guarantees, Trump advocated for a diplomatic approach toward Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During their heated exchange, Zelensky accused Russia of disregarding diplomacy and violating ceasefire agreements, resulting in continued bloodshed. Trump, in turn, accused Zelensky of escalating tensions and risking global conflict.
Zelensky had been expected to finalize a mineral deal with the U.S., which some believed could contribute to ending the war. However, the strained discussions overshadowed the agreement, leaving the situation uncertain.
